In case your local area network is not Internet connected, Exchange can be used for exchanging local messages, saving tasks and contacts in the general calendar, all of these increase the synchronization and improves the organization. To send and receive mail with remote computers outside of your network only one requirements is to have permanent connection to Internet. You don't need to pay additional fee to your ISP for increasing amount of mailboxes (according amount of licenses CAL for EXCHANGE Server). Users outside of office can use all functions of Exchange.
